Ombre Nails

Sorry about the quality of the above picture... But I was bored at the bus stop tonight and thought I would share a picture of my nails!

Ombre? I dig it. I have yet to master the "ombre" effect on each individual nail, but overall, this blue ombre looks nice

Blue is not the classsiest of nail colors, but it will do for now!

I started with Essie "Mesmerized" on my thumbs

To create a lighter version of the nail polish color, I poured a little of the Essie polish on a scrap piece of cardboard. And then I added a tiny bit of white polish. Mix the polish together and paint on the next fingers (one finger per hand- you want them to match!). Continue the process until you have the lightest color on your pinkies. Et voila. Ombre.



Worried about the weather?

There have been some weirdo weather issues going on lately.

Earthquakes and hurricanes on the East coast?! Yikes.

And we are having tornadoes in Michigan?! Craaazy.

I swear that cloud started spinning like a funnel cloud...



Gettin' Down on Friday

Today was spent catching frogs. And getting eaten alive by mosquitos.

Seriously, I just counted 17 new bites. Just from today.

Also, the kids I was babysitting thought that the caught a "water snake" but I'm pretty sure it was just a leech. Which is still making me shiver. YUCK.

And tonight was spent eating "gourmet" chips and drinking wine out of a coffee mug. I like to think of myself as a classy lady. But I realize that classy ladies use wine glasses. So I'm somewhat of an oxymoron.

PS Working four jobs but really only getting paid for one is starting to take it's toll...

I'm BAA-AACK

Boy oh boy it has been a busy couple of weeks

And that's putting it mildly

But for the record, I am back in the swing of things

My life is going through a may-jor change right now but I will keep you guys posted!

In the meantime, I have been swoooooning over tassle garlands and today GreenWeddingShoes showed their readers how to DIY one!

I think this will make a lovely addition to me and my pop's deck, don't you think?

"Not-so-wedding" Wednesday

So I realize it's a little late to even consider this a 'Wednesday' post but today was busy!

Work + work out + late night grocery shopping means I am just now sitting down to dinner...yikes!

Also, this is NOT a wedding Wednesday post. More like a birthday Wednesday post? (Also...21 days until my birthday....another yikes!)

A couple of weeks ago, as a part of my internship, we designed and coordinated a birthday party for the cutest little one year old and now some of the pictures are ready!

I "moss-ified" those letters (and was completely covered in spray adhesive and moss for a couple of days...) Head on over to the amazing Abby Rose's blog to check out the rest of the pictures! (It was insane- so amazing- the florist we worked with made handmade stools for each kid to sit on and my favorite cake maker, Sweet Heather Anne, made meringue mushrooms!)

What's In YOUR Bag?

In the next couple of weeks, I will be starting another internship for a blog based out of Georgia.

Instead of a typical "bio" for the interns, we are supposed to take a picture of all of the items inside our purse and then give a little description.

The only problem?

I have to clean out my purse before I can do this.

This is a glimpse into my purse as it was today. But what you can't see is all the crumbs, gum/straw wrappers, receipts, empty sunscreen bottles, etc. that is lurking at the bottom.

Lucky for me, I have the time to clean out my purse a little and "prep" for it's big online debut. But if I had needed to show my purse as is, right now, I would be a little embarassed...

Summer Nails

Two things about this picture:

1. Vitamin Water is awesome. This flavor is not.

2. Look at my nails! It was a very summer-inspired "french" manicure.

First, I did a couple of coats of Essie's "Ballerina Slippers" and then did a normal french manicure tip but with Revlon's "Minted". Et voila! Classic looking nails with a twist!

P.S. I took these pictures while waiting for my bus yesterday which never came. I'm pretty sure the Swedish guy waiting with me thought I was a little crazy...



THANK YOU

I want to say "Thank You" for being patient with me.

This week has not been fun. (Can you tell from my "mean people suck" post?) But seriously, they do. I hate mean people.

I don't like feeling inadequate when I am busting my butt. And I don't like when people are mean for no reason.

To add to that, I missed my bus going home last night AND tonight because I had to stay late at work. $9 is too much for a one-way cab ride.

So to make myself feel better, I have been reading girly books, I watched the movie Prom and I have been spending lots of time on Youtube.

To be completely, 100% honest, I spent way too much time looking up mashups on Youtube.

And basically, everyone and their mom mashed up Adele with another song. I have work to do, but I would click on one video and then end up on another video and so on and so on.

Okay, I'm headed back to work now. But I made that Thank You card in the picture. Pretty cool, huh?

I Turn 24 in 29 Days...

I have mixed feelings about turning 24.

As in, I'm not excited about turning 24 but I'm excited about getting presents for turning 24 :)

I Need My Own Show On TLC

You might as well call me an extreme couponer.

This morning, I had a free workout class. I just ordered two pairs of Steve Madden shoes (one pictured above) and two dresses online, all for $100. And then I ordered some Sperrys for $40 from Nordstroms.

I am all about the coupons these days.

OH and I booked a rental car and hotel with some discounts there too.

Woop woop

I know I'm so lame, but you gotta get your kicks somewhere.

And I'm far from being an extreme couponer. But I do like finding deals.

The trick? I just search for coupons for EVERYTHING.

For example: google search "nordstrom discounts"

And then take it from there.
