Pining for Pinterest-Painted Floors

Pinterest is my newest obsession.

And I am not exaggerating in the slightest. I am literally obsessed.

I am also obsessed with painted floors.

Ladies and Gentlemen

I am moving up in the world.
Not only am I the proud owner of a "big girl" phone (adios, pay-as-you-go), I now have a bus pass
Odd things to get excited about, I know
But it's better than scrounging around for quarters and dimes (for bus fare) and using my T-9 texting on my flip phone- even though I dig pay-as-you-go phones
In addition to my new phone and bus pass, here are some other things I have been (more than) obsessed with this week

1. Runts candy- this is not a new obsession, simply a forgotten one. And I only like the yellow "banana" ones

2. Pretty (new) flip flops from my mama and daddio

3. I don't love this, per se, but Borders is going out of business. Unlucky for them (but lucky for me) they are having 40% off all magazines..so I've been stocking up. Also, bestsellers (books) for $3.99?! Yes please!!

4. Coffee Filter Flowers (found on designsponge)- I made loads of these as a part of a presentation for my internship. Tutorial is on it's way!

5. Florence and the Machines "Between Two Lungs". BEYOND. I have no other words. I know I'm a little late to the game, but better late than never, right?

Rear Patio

Ever seen the movie, Rear Window?

Well this post will be nothing like it

Except that it revolves around the "rear" view of an apartment

But it's the view from my patio/balcony/porch/whatever-you-call-it

This was the sunset from last night....so pretty, right?

Sadly, tonight's view is not as pretty.

It's currently raining (boo)

It doesn't quite give you a view of the sky/sunset.
But it does give you a view of my soggy herbs that are growing (wilting?)

Back to Business

Sincere apologies for the lack of posting this past week. It was Art Fair in Ann Arbor and I worked all day, everyday.

I would get to work around 8 am and leave work around 9:15 pm. By the time I got home, ate dinner and showered, it was time for bed to try and get a little rest before the next day started. They were long, hot days, with various forms of entertainment (MJ performer was my favorite)

I would like to state for the record that I am not at all complaining about working all day. Let's not forget the dark days of unemployment from the beginning of the summer... I am just happy to have a couple of days off!

Today was spent recooperating, and running errands. Tomorrow will be spent meeting for a project for my internship and then lounging at the pool. I checked out the book "Lies Chelsea Told Me" from the library and I'm almost done. There have been a lot of moments were I have literally LAUGHED OUT LOUD.

How were your weeks last week?!

Extra "What What"s

I dig farmer's markets, plain and simple.
Since I didn't post any links last weekend, I have included some extras to keep you busy!!

I heart everything about this. PS I want to be Mila Kunis. Or be friends with her. She seems like she'd be a fun friend

August 4th cannot come too soon. This is genius.

I want this piece of artwork. How amazing would it be in my dream office?? (I think it would look perfect)

I love everything about this blog. I. Mean. Everything.

Weird. I mean, good for him, but he just doesn't look the same. Is it weird I don't think he'll be as funny skinny?

There is NO WAY she is 16

I wanna make this RIGHT NOW

If I had a million dollars... love the frame of the house, not a fan of the furniture

I can't wait for Barre Bee Fit to open! I walk past everyday...counting down til August

Cocokelley + pinterest means I didn't do any work all day...

Frenchified

Merde trois fois.

I forgot all about Bastille Day.

I am ashamed that I missed out on my most beloved holiday.

I spent the entire day thinking that today was the 13th.

IT'S THE 15TH! I missed a whole day. A WHOLE DAY!

Anyways, happy bastille day!

Cinco Things (Aka 5 Things)

A cryptic picture of my loot from the library

Some things I am LOVING this week:

1. I realize I'm a little late to this one but I have become pretty enamored with Revlon 'Minted' it is absolutely parfait for summer

2. Checking out magazines from the library. Did you know you can do that? I didn't, I love catching up on old Nylon mags! (And People, and Vogue, and Real Simple, and US-the list could go on and on). I got a lot of stares on my bus ride home. It was maybe because I was carrying 11 magazines in my arms...

3. The show Nail Files. Don't judge- it's on the TV Guide Network but I dig it

4. Florence and the Machine. 'Nuff said.

5. Last but not least, I am working every day next week!! Woo hoo!!!! We are having an art fair in Ann Arbor and while it's going to be a little hectic and busy, I am pumped to be working so much! And we're getting our fall inventory in, which means cardigans, aka my favorite clothing item

Nautical Wedding

I took a break this past weekend from workin' weddings to go to my family reunion, so I really have no connection to this wedding, other than I'm completely obsessed with it.

As featured on Green Wedding Shoes, I love love love the cereal sundae bar idea!

And "we are no longer single, shake, rattle and jingle"?! ADORABLE!

GOLDEN

This idea for DIY gold glasses is absolutely perfect for my homework assignment for this week! I think Im gonna try it with a thin gold ribbon at the bottom of the glass. Thoughts?

I don't want to give too much away, but I spent the weekend reading The Great Gatsby and looking at inspiration for Gatsby weddings.

I've already given too much away. Just wait until you see what I'm workin on!

Save Michigan

I'm kind of obsessed with all things "Michigan" and this is no exception.

Hangin With The Fam

This past weekend was dedicated to driving long distances in cars and seeing my family! Oh, and goin to the movies

On Friday, I packed my bags in Ann Arbor (as pictured below, I have a very precise way to pack) and then I made my way to my parents' house in Illinois (time spent in car: 4 hours)

That night, I went to the movies with my brothers (we saw Transformers 3 and I'm embarassed to say that I knew more about the robots/movie than they did. And they're 16 year old boys...)

Saturday morning, my mama and I drove to Indiana for her family reunion (time spent in car: around 3 hours). We drove through lots of "windmills"

My sister met us there (she had to drive all the way from St. Louis, MO so I really have no room to complain about being in the car for 3 hours).

Saturday was spent visiting with my grandma and aunt (I haven't seen them since before I went to France- so over six months ago!)

Then Saturday night, mama, kit kat and I went and saw Horrible Bosses (Jen Aniston, I heart you no matter what, but I was not expecting that!) Afterwards, we may or may not have gone to an Irish bar (that really reminded me of my whirlwind Dublin vacation) and my mom may or may not have 'borrowed' some really cool pint glasses from them.

Sunday was spent visiting with my mom's family that I haven't seen for ELEVEN YEARS! That's simply too long. I heard so many stories, it was a lot of fun.

AND we decided that our next family reunion is going to be on a cruise to the south of France, not too shabby!

We were in no hurry to leave because we were havin a good time looking at pictures from family reunions in the 1920s

Around 7:30, we decided that we were ready to go and kit kat and I began our (close to) 5 hour drive back up to Ann Arbor (because she's staying with me this week woot woot).

It was a quick trip but so nice to see everyone!

Busy Busy Bee

Today has been a busy day to say the least.

Work ran a little late and so I was a little late to my meeting for my internship, so then that ran late and then I was late for dinner.

Being late is my biggest pet peeve. But oh well, what can you do?

I've got a couple of projects in the works, inspiration boards here and there. A "Preview of Fall Looks" board for work and a special homework assignment for my internship. Here's a hint: it involves The Great Gatsby.

More details on all of that to come!

By the time I got home, sent off all the emails I needed to and made all the calls I needed to make, it was already 11 pm! Aka time for bed.

Except I still have work that I can do.

But no complaints here. Because I have a job and I seriously love it (woo hoo!)

I want this real bad. It was sold out EVERYWHERE but all the stores are now restocking it and I want it. The colors are sheer perfection for summertime.

Did I mention I want it?

Valentino Couture

It just doesn't stop. One day I will be someone who wears these types of dresses. One day

I heart this wedding dress. And the color navy.

Valentino Couture

Unreal. Seriously, I have no words

LEOPARD Nails! (Or How To Make Your Nails Even Awesomer)

The bottom line is that I simply have too much time on my hands and I have recently become addicted to the show, Jerseylicious.

Put those two things together and what do you get? LEOPARD painted nails!

The girls on Jerseylicious (well really any show I've seen involving people from New Jersey) are obsessed with long nails and anything leopard or cheetah. They go all out. I'm talkin 'paint their walls cheetah' all out. They also rock a smokey eye in daylight and wear super tight, neon colored, glittery leggings.

I can't rock the clothes that they wear, well I could, but I choose not to. However, I have been seeing leopard print nails a lot and was feeling inspired! They turned out to be super easy...

I started with a base coat of light purple. After letting that dry, I added a bunch of gold dots- all different sizes, all over. Let it dry.

Next, I used some black polish and the end of a paperclip (it worked perfect, I swear!) to "frame" each of the gold spots. I also added some other, smaller black dots and lines

Let it all dry and then add a top coat.
While I tried my hardest to make things look perfect, they clearly did not turn out perfect but I think they look pretty darn good!  My right hand turned out way better than I thought it would. And seriously, an unrolled paper clip was the key.

Anyone up for tennis?

RED WHITE AND BLUE!
Yesterday was gorgeous outside! Fluffy white clouds, clear blue sky and a glimpse at my red brick building

My dog has been totally camped out on the sofa all day. I think even she realizes it's too hot outside to function

My flowers were watching the news today and after they heard the results, they all wilted!
(Not really, but come on, that verdict was shocking!)

One of my bros stayed behind to hang out with me this week! Two days in a row, we've gone to play tennis. I played during high school, but it has been a while! He's never really played but he was still able to beat me :/

How did you celebrate yesterday??

Gladys

I had some visitors this past weekend!! Mama, my bros and the dogs! The newest addition to our family was quite a handful still but she's oh so cute!

And now you can:

What's Up With It? Fourth of Juuuuuly Style!

Happy 4th of July!!

I fully intended to post this yesterday, as I've designated Sundays to be the day that I post what's been keeping me occupied all weekend (aka some link love) but I have been a little confused as to what day of the week it is.... So I spent all day yesterday thinking it was Saturday. And then I woke up today, and it was Monday. It took me a minute, but here it is!

What I've been obsessing over all weekend...

I am so making this this week. I wonder if my dad will let me hang it above our fireplace...?

BA-NANAS. I heart all things R Zoe.

I also heart succulents.

SO. BEYOND. JEALOUS. Words cannot even express. Maybe one day...

Can you imagine running to the bus in these?

On my to-do list for today: trying to find some fireworks! Apparently Ann Arbor doesn't have fireworks? Not. A. Fan.

And finally, a little red, white and blue breakfast inspiration:

Chobani Strawberry Greek Yogurt, blueberries and some granola- Fave. Breakfast.

Friday, July 1, 2011

Wait...it's already July?!

It's officially the 4th of July weekend!

For me, the 4th is the true "start" to summer. BBQs, fireworks and spending lots of time outside, what more could you ask for?

I spent some time this morning changin up my nailpolish to be more representative of the good ole U S of A

And it seems like everyone around the web agrees with me!

Lauren Conrad going a little nautical/ patriotic

The Stylish Housewife going red, white and blue

Living with Three Moonbabies did a classic red/white stripe, alternating with blue

And I love the fireworks on Valentinekisses!
